Festivals extend beyond calendar dates to become cherished times for joy, community bonding, and collective enjoyment. Our mission at BKC (Biryani, Kebab, Chai) revolves around celebrating life through the combination of flavours and traditions and the power of coming together.
The launch of Biryani by Kilo brought us tremendous love and support this month and we remember the heartfelt blessings we received during Valentine’s Day with our special Rose Rasmalai & Rosé Pairing. We now shift our focus and celebrations to the forthcoming Holi festival which will bring waves of colour and joy along with delicious chaats.
This season celebrates the joy of sharing meals between the aromatic biryani cooked in handis and street-style chaat with loved ones to create lasting memories.
Biryani by Kilo: A feast for all, a legacy reimagined!
Since its introduction at Biryani by Kilo guests have been captivated by the Dum Pukht biryani which features slow-cooked saffron and succulent meats alongside aged basmati rice. The authentic earthen handi serving of 1KG biryani transforms London’s culinary exploration of this royal dish.
Biryani at BKC London transcends its culinary purpose to become a deeply rooted ritual. The handi arrives at your table covered by its golden dough seal which builds anticipation before it is opened. The opening of the seal by the server releases an intoxicating steam filled with saffron aroma and whole spices mixed with the scent of slow-cooked meat. The unveiling of the handi becomes an occasion filled with dramatic flair combined with sumptuous enjoyment and time-honoured customs.
Local potters from Hackney Wick create each handi through traditional methods to support sustainable craftsmanship and reinforce Dum Pukht cooking authenticity.
Guests have the option to take their handi home and use it as a planter or keepsake or cooking pot to keep their BKC experience alive beyond the meal. Biryani by Kilo stands as the preferred choice for sharing authentic meals during family celebrations and special events.
A valentine celebration to remember: Rose rasmalai & Rosé pairing
At BKC the month of February became a celebration of love which we honoured with lavish indulgence. The Rose Rasmalai dessert with soft saffron paneer dumplings in rose-flavoured milk topped with caramelized peanuts achieved the ideal romantic flavour profile.
The Rosé wine with its fruity elegance perfectly complemented this delicately flavoured dessert to create an unforgettable tasting experience. The Rasmalai’s floral sweetness combined with the Rosé wine created a harmonious pairing that delivered poetic flavours to the palate.
Our guests displayed immense warmth and enthusiasm which delighted us as we observed numerous people celebrating love and friendship over excellent food at BKC. The shared experiences of romantic dinners and friend gatherings over this pairing will remain as cherished memories beyond February.
Welcoming Holi: A festival of colours, chaos & chaats
The festive season of Holi brings together people for celebration and street food indulgence while embracing India’s most iconic culinary traditions. Holi breaks through barriers and brings people together as they celebrate in colourful revelry while sharing laughter and plates of chaat and sweets.
BKC presents a unique Holi menu with traditional chaats inspired by the popular street snacks from Lucknow and Delhi. The essence of Holi exists beyond the vibrant colours and resides in the crackling of papri, the zesty punch of tamarind chutney, and every flavour explosion with each mouthful.
A chaat-filled celebration: BKC’s chaat menu
Chaat stands as a fundamental component of Holi festivities through its distinctive mix of crisp texture alongside tangy, spicy and sweet tastes. This menu offers street-inspired dishes which will stimulate your senses while boosting your celebratory spirit:
The significance of Chaats and Gulab Jamun lies at the heart of Holi festivities
The essence of Holi celebrations revolves around the traditional treats Chaats and Gulab Jamun. During Holi festivals street food and sweets are essential because their flavours add to the joyful celebration atmosphere. Through its combination of playful textures and tangy-spicy flavours Chaat embodies the unpredictable energy of Holi.
This dish encourages sharing through its dynamic flavour bursts that sweep across the tongue much like colours animate the surrounding space. The vibrant and tangy nature of chaat defines the energetic spirit of Holi while Gulab Jamun embodies the sweet and comforting essence of shared moments.
Holi: Holi represents a festival that goes beyond mere celebration to become an occasion of unity and shared joy.
The essence of Holi extends beyond colour play to include letting go of inhibitions as well as savouring joyful moments and celebrating love and laughter with food.
This festival demonstrates that food holds universal power to connect people wherever they are. Chaat connects generations across India and London while biryani brings families together and sweets signal the start of joyful occasions.
At BKC we offer you the chance to enjoy Holi in its authentic Indian form through both its festival flavours and its intrinsic spirit. Bring together those you love and share a celebratory meal that combines nostalgic tastes with festive spirit.
