BKC is renowned for its authentic Awadhi cuisine, originating from Awadh (modern-day Lucknow) in Northern India, to London for the first time. Awadhi cuisine is defined by its aromatics, distinct flavours, and unique textures. The bawarchis(chefs) and rakabdars (gourmet cooks) of Awadh invented the Dum style of cooking or the art of cooking over a slow fire, which has become synonymous with Lucknow today, known as Awadh of India. Their spreads consisted of elaborate dishes such as kebabs, kormas, biryanis, Galawat, nahari-kulchas, zarda, sheermal, rumali rotis, and warqi parathas. The richness of Awadh cuisine lies not only in the variety of cuisine but also in the ingredients used like mutton, paneer, and rich spices, which include cardamom and saffron.

Of the new opening, BKC founder Jeet Mitra (also the founder of Coupette, which will be opening a second site, Atelier Coupette, next door to BKC Soho) says:

“BKC is so close to my heart as I have been eating the style of food since I developed my taste bud as a kid and been in this industry for 20 years gave me privilege to open BKC , hope I display my passion and culture to the people in UK in coming years”.

He has teamed up with Arsh Thakur who has developed his technique whilst working with some of the world’s renowned Hotels and restaurants over 25 years . In a bid to fulfil his passion for culinary art and dedicated to gastronomy, Arsh joined hand with Jeet and Founded BKC and looking forward for opening the second one in Soho.
